Q. How much is my water bill?
Durham One Call can look up that information in the City billing system. It helps speed up our research if you have your water account number available for us to reference.
Q. Can I pay my water bill over the phone?
Durham One Call cannot take payments over the phone; however, you may pay your water bill on-line by visiting the eDurham website.
Q. I recently moved into my home, how do I get a trash cart?
Durham One Call can send a service request to our Solid Waste Management Department for a cart to be delivered.
Q. How do I set up new yard waste account?
Durham One Call will submit a service request to the Yard Waste Division of Solid Waste Management. You will be mailed an application to complete and return with your initial payment. This payment amount will be given to you at the time of your first call to Durham One Call.
Q. Who do I call about night time noise on I-85?
I-85 construction project is handled by the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT). NCDOT’s telephone number is 919-560-6854.
Q. Where do I report a pothole repair needed on a street?
Durham One Call will issue a service request to our Public Works – Street Maintenance Division for the repair if it is a City street. However, if it is a state road (like Highway15-501 or Highway 55/Alston Avenue), you will need to contact NCDOT at 919-560-6854.
Q. Who can pick up a dead animal from my yard?
The City of Durham is not permitted to pick up dead animals on private property. If you have the animal moved to the curb, Durham One Call will submit a service request to the Department of Public Works to arrange for the pick up.
Q. Who do I call about a street light that needs repair?
Existing street light repair is done by Duke Energy. Please contact Duke Energy at 1-800-777-9898.
Q. Who do I call about water quality?
The City publishes and distributes a water quality report each year. If you have questions about tap water, you may contact the Department of Water Management at 919-560-4381. If you have questions about streams, creeks, or ponds, please contact the City’s Storm Water Division at 919-560-4326.
Q. How do I contact a specific City employee if I don’t have a telephone number?
Durham One Call has access to the City’s employee directory. We can connect you with the employee or give you the telephone number to call. In certain instances, we may not be able to locate an employee due to a nickname used. In this case, the more specific information you can provide, the more efficiently we can search for the employee.
