Zoning designations regulate the type and intensity of development that can occur on parcels. Each parcel in Durham has one or more zoning designations that regulate the type and intensity of development that can occur. Applicants can request a change in designation. A request can include a Development Plan that is a general design plan for development of the property that becomes part of the zoning designation.
The Planning Commission makes recommendation to the governing boards and usually holds public hearings at 6:00 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month in the City Council Chambers.
